When the swing era came to an end after the second world war, a lot of the big bands were reduced in size to smaller units for various reasons such as expenditure and personnel displacements. This helped bring about a change of jazz styles through fresh ideas from younger players. This gave rise to a less restrictive platform for improvisation and to the eventual introduction to Bebop and West Coast Cool School. The Blue Room 7 tries to emulate the best of this very important mix whilst still keeping to a swing genre. The arrangements are new, but reflect the best of what should be kept alive from a wonderful period.
